Deonna Wheeler

I am California born, Chicago raised.  I attended Illinois schools receiving my Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Northern Illinois University and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work/Psychology from Loyola University Chicago.  My career in housing reaches back long before I’d became a Realtor.  As a Social Worker, I have worked in the non-profit sector since undergrad helping those underprivileged and marginalized populations in various capacities from coordinating Section 8 and affordable housing searches acting as a liaison for families, landlords, and housing authorities in six Illinois counties.  I have worked with at risk children and their families as an advocate, assisting them to develop skills necessary to strengthen their mental health through counseling, building community, and building coalitions supporting, schools, businesses, communities and other organizations.  I moved to personal banking to help many understand the steps necessary for the road to homeownership financing.

While in graduate school, I worked part time in marketing with local marketing firms specializing in marketing events and promotions and creating high level events and conceptual promotions.

My past work experiences has allowed me to transition effortlessly into real estate and to keep that my commitment and dedication to being a resource for clients.  I chose a career in Real Estate because I wanted to help some of those same clients achieve their dream of homeownership. As a first time home buyer, I had no clue as to what I was doing.  I consider myself reasonably intelligent and was intrigued by the home buying process.  I took the necessary courses and passed the state licensing test the first time around.

I currently work as a Real Estate professional because I have a genuine passion for real estate and an affinity for people, particularly those who are in the midst of an important and huge investment.  Working with homebuyers, being empathetic and listening to their needs and requirements are a vital part of my ability for marrying the right individual with the right property.  I have honed my specialty in listing New Construction, Existing Housing and Development closeouts within short market time and the right exposure from listing to sale. I love working in Chicago, a city that has architectural pedigree and reputation.  I marvel at the diversity and the urban renewal of downtown, loop, south and west sides.  I am proud to be a part of that renewal, with the added value of working on behalf and of the interest of its residents and environment.

My commitment and social responsibility includes improving the conditions and the way buildings are constructed, and improving the design and operation that is mutually beneficial for humanity and nature.  Studying at Chicago’s Harrington School of Design, I bring the ability to analyze property spaces and floor plans from an architectural perspective giving me a unique insight to transform the client’s space into their dream home through design and staging.

Deonna loves to create, laugh, love and listen.  Her style and approach reflects her insatiable appetite for perfection and attention to detail.  As a child Deonna’s artistic soul and charming personality captured and captivated everything and everyone around her.  To date that hasn’t changed much.  Through constant experimentation and learning she has pushed the thresholds of traditional real estate service.  Trained to view things through a different eye, instilled by her photographer Dad, she can take you out of the ordinary and into a place that practices the art of uniting style and extraordinary properties both residential and commercial, with extraordinary lives.
